In 2013 American photojournalist John Stanmeyer traveled to Northern Africa on the assignment of National Geographic. One night he was walking along the shore, trying to find an interesting shot for his photo reportage.
Suddenly he saw a large group of people holding their mobile phones in the air. The photographer asked the translator what those people were doing.
The latter answered that they are Somali refugees, who are trying to catch the weak signal of the mobile operator that reaches there from Somali in order to speak with their relatives left in the homeland. Stanmeyer immediately took out the camera and captured that exciting scene.
