The militants of the Islamic State extremist organization have blown up the central library in the second largest city of Iraq – Mosul.
The explosion and the fire which followed have completely destroyed the three-story library building which is considered the one of the oldest ones in the country.
The extremists have burned more than 10 thousand books including rare copies of Arab manuscripts, ancient philosophy and history works.
