Armenian Public TV Company has announced earlier that Genealogy will be uniting the new generation of Armenians spread through 5 continents (Europe, Asia, America, Africa, and Australia) around the world in the year of 1915. The group consists of 6 artists with Armenian origin – 6 destinies with 1 story. The first participant of the supergroup is famous French-Armenian singer Essaï Altounian, who represents the continent Europe. The song to be presented is titled “Don’t Deny” (“Mi Zhkhtir”).
The name of the third participant of “Genealogy” will be announced on February 23. This year the contest will be held in Vienna on May 19, 21 and 23 with the official slogan “Building Bridges”. Tamar, who lives in New York, is an American-Armenian singer and composer. She is proud of her Armenian origin and likes speaking about her Armenian descent. Tamar’s grandfather, Zhirayr Kaprelian, was born in Kharberd, and her grandmother – in Mousel. Tamar’s true love of music came about when she discovered Billy Joel and Paul McCartney. Tamar started composing songs at the age of 14, without mastering any musical instrument. Already at the age of 17 she began to play the piano, which enabled her to record the melodies and songs she composed by means of a small recorder. In 2008 March she won an Interscope Record contest with her cover of One Republic's hit single, "Apologize".
Tamar Kaprelian released her first album in 2010 August in collaboration with Interscope Records and called it “Sinner or Saint”. In the same year she performed live together with The Far East Movement during a number of concerts, singing “Like a G6” song instead of Dev.
Tamar Kaprelian released her first “California” EP from Killer Tracks Artist Series on June 19, 2012, as a result of the joint work with Xandy Barry.
In 2015 Tamar will represent Armenia in the 60th authoritative Eurovision Song Contest. She will sing in Vienna together with 5 other talented participants of Armenian origin. At this moment together with the creative personnel, Tamar is actively participating in the preparatory works of the contest. The first semifinal will be held on May 19.
