A contest was organized in RA to launch the pilot program "Smart Town". Various towns participated and the winner was the town of Goris Syunik Region. Goris is one of the most important footings of the southern gates of Armenia, is situated on the crossroad of various important highways and has preserved its historical buildings and surroundings.
Thanks to these factors the Ministry of Urban Development of RA chose the town of Goris as the winner. "Smart Town" means you have smart industry, smart management, smart and organized surroundings and of course smart environment. The Major of Goris Vachagan Adunts is sure that his town with its smart inhabitants and cooperation can initiate the program. The main initiator of the program is the government of Austria for the Graz city of Austria was the first to apply that criteria.
