The military institute after V.Sargsyan has a new chief. By the order of the president of Armenia Serj Sargsyan the position was given to Major-General Armen Ghahramanyan. The previous chief Lieutenant-General Martin Karapetyan was recently fired. The reason was the assassination of the cadet of the institute Haykaz Barseghyan.
The 4 fellow cadets who killed him were arrested and many high rank officers were fired. The incident gave rise to doubts about the role of the institute and its authority in forming the army.
The military institute will always remain a place where the best officers of Armenian army are forged.
