This year, Hayastan All Armenian Fund’s “Telethon-2014” has registered 12 399 550 USD in donations and pledges. The gathered money will be directed toward asphalting and repair of the 116 km Vardenis-Martakert highway, which links the Armenian twin republics.
The part of the donations will be allocated for implementation of special projects in Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh Republic chosen by the philanthropists.
The new highway will function as an additional lifeline between Armenia and Artsakh, helping boost the economies and specifically tourism industries of the twin republics, with the 22 large and small communities which dot the length of the highway becoming the main beneficiaries of increased economic activity.
