Heavyweights up to 105 kg competed for medals during a recurrent day at the World Championship in Almaty. The world records were beaten 4 times during extremely interesting struggle.
The first record was established by Simon Martirosyan, the champion of Nanking Youth Olympic Games. The 17 years old strongman lifted 183 kg, thus beating his own world junior record by 1 kg. Simon Martirosyan won 7th place in clean and jerk combination with the result of 396 kg. The Uzbekistani weightlifter Ruslan Nurudinov exceeded by 1 kg the world record in jerk established by David Bejanyan representing Russia. Two minutes later Bejanyan lifted 240 kg, thus reclaiming the highest result.
The Kazakhstani sportsman Ilya Ilyin established the new world record in jerk – 242 kg. Ilya Ilyin, two-time Olympic champion with the result of 432 kg was recognized as the world champion. Meanwhile, Nurudinov who is heavier than Ilyin by 430 g with the same result won the second place.
Our compatriot David Bejanyan climbed the second step of the podium. On November 16, the last day of the championship, Hripsime Khurshudyan, Hayk Hakobyan, and Ruben Alexanyan will perform. The first channel will cover their performances live at 12:00 and 15:00.
