In the airspace of the eastern sector of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border, as a result of the violation of the ceasefire regime, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces shot a helicopter Mi-24 of the Air Forces of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic during a training flight on November 12 at 13:45. The place of the shot is very close to the line of contact.
The Azerbaijani side circulated mindless rumors as if the Armenian helicopters attacked their positions and they just took a response action. The examination of the helicopter fragments will allow to confirm that the helicopter was unarmed.
This tension of the situation continued even when the helicopter had already fallen down. Moreover, the Azerbaijani side even did not allow approaching the pilots.
The commander of the downed helicopter was Major Sergey Sahakyan. Among the crew members were Lieutenant Azat Sahakyan and Senior Lieutenant Sargis Nazaryan. According to the initial data, all the three pilots of the helicopter were killed.
