“The Alevi Zazas and Their Neighbours” themed international scientific conference kicked off in Yerevan. It is organized by the “Modus Vivendi” center in association with the Iranian Studies Department of Yerevan State University.
The tree-day conference is participated in by the scientists invited from Turkey, as well as many representatives of the Dersim Armenians’ Union, the secretary general of the Federation of the Dersim Armenians of Europe, many dersimans. Having lived as Alevi Zazas for almost one century they just started coming out with their Armenian roots and they are decisive to bring up their heirs as Armenians.
During the massacres Zazas in Dersim sheltered 45.000 Armenian orphans.
Ara Papyan, head of “Modus Vivendi” center, says the Armenian identity is awake inside many of the Armenians who have been living as Alevi Zazas for 100 years, and the search efforts should be contributed.
