The President of the Republic, Serzh Sargsyan has given an interview to the New York Times, an authoritative US newspaper. The President stressed in his answers that Armenia had a major role in preventing genocides. We believe that the humanity should be consistent in recognizing, condemning and excluding the denial of such crimes, he said.
The President noted that the history would go on repeating itself as long as the crimes of the past had not been given their proper assessment. Responding to the question on Armenia being a bridge between Russia and the west the head of Armenia just reminded that since independence the policies of our country have been developed in directions of balanced relations with various systems.
Being a member to the Collective Security Treaty Organization Armenia managed to meanwhile develop its relations with the NATO. At the same time, joining the Eurasian Union the country might connect the West and the Eurasian business world to each other.
