Major world organization of Armenian studies, with a 33-year-old background and over 400 researchers in Armenian studies brought together, held its 13th conference in Yerevan. The Conference on Armenian studies was unique and crucial in terms of it being held in Armenia for the first time. This was decided 3 years ago in Hungarian capital by the initiative of Old Manuscripts’ Institute of Matenadaran, Armenia.
In the run-up to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide the conference on Armenian studies could not ignore the issue of the Great Crime. Richard Hovhannisyan says there is the problem of the latest Genocide denial in the US, something needing to be fought. The famous scientist believes the fields of research both in Armenian studies, and the history of the Armenian Genocide studies are inexhaustible.
The Association unites the leading minds from the Armenian Studies’ centers of the top European universities. The organization of the Armenian studies is headed by Valentina Catsolari, Geneva University. The latest researches were presented at the Yerevan conference. For Valentina Caltsolari Greek was crucial on her way to Armenian Studies. She studied Armenian while studying the Ancient Armenian translations of Greek texts. Now Armenian Studies are a part of her life.

The head of Matenadaran says common terminology and methodology needs to be developed. The Conference was one of the rare chances to discover latest achievements in the world of Armenian studies.
