Fierce fighting continues on the Syrian – Turkish border town of Kobane, between the local Kurds and the ISIS militants.
Many casualties are reported among the Kurdish fighters, and no chance to take them out from the military zone. After the Western coalition hitting the Kobane suburbs targeting the ISIS positions, the Kurds managed to break the siege and even to push back the Islamists. The extremists left some neighbourhoods in the eastern and south-western parts of Kobane.
Other reports say the Syrian state army continues fighting both the ISIS and the so-called Free army. For the last two days the fights were heavy in Aleppo and surroundings, in particular. Near the Aleppo suburb of Sifat the militants were strongly beaten at their bases by the army aiming at regaining its positions.
The Islamists applied heavy artillery, tanks, armour to fight the Army. The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu says no unsupported ground actions should be expected by Turkey on-its own.
