The “Armenian Dersim” event in Swiss city of Renens aimed at discussing the problems of Kurdisized, Islamized and crypto-Armenians, to support the “converters” (those who regained their Armenian identity), for them to be able to overcome the psychological obstacles. Ismail Cem Halavurt, based in Istanbul, head of the Union of Dersim Armenians, said he would claim his right for his land, his past and identity, as a small part of the Armenians of Western Armenia (modern day Anatolia.)
There were historians and lawyers from around the globe among the guests of the initiative. Mihran Prkitch Gultekin, the chairman of the faith and mutual help union for the Dersim Armenians, was also there. He believes the return to the roots is a return to creditable life. He is the first Dersimian anointed as Mihran Prkitch by the spiritual support of Sarkis Seropyan, editor of the Armenian part of “Agos” newspaper.
Mihran Prkitch urges all the crypto-Armenians to follow his example, after changing his name Suleiman, and get back to the roots. The Union of the Dersim Armenians headed by him now has some 70 members.
