A joint cooperative is founded to more efficiently market vegetables and berries from Ayrum and Lchadzor Villages, Tavush Region. The cannery stores fruits grown by the farmers of the region, most of which will be exported to Russia.
The initiative of founding a joint cooperative was supported by “Oxfam” international organization and its partners. The “Oxfam” executives consider this innovative and unprecedented for their projects, as a model of social enterprise.
Robert Malinyan from Ltcadzor community became a member of the cooperative from the first day. He delivered 700 kilos of harvest from his peach trees’ garden. He says the enterprise has eased his burden.
Now they have 19 empoyees at the factory, but soon it will reach 60. This will not be the final limit, as well. 40 tons of tinned food due to be sent to Sochi.
