Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Armenia’s First Lady Rita Sargsyan and Poland’s First Lady Anna Komorowska, who is on a working visit to Armenia at Mrs Sargsyan’s invitation, were present at the opening of the exhibition of works by Teodor Axentowicz, Polish painter of Armenian origin.
The exhibition was visited by Polish Ambassador to Armenia Zdzislaw Raczynski, several other foreign ambassadors, Jacek Karnowski, Mayor of Sopot, Poland, and Director of the Sopot State Gallery of Arts Zbigniew Buski. Under the Armenian and Polish presidents’ auspices, the exhibition displays 53 of Teodor Axentowicz’s paintings and graphic drawings.
Paravon Mirzoyan, the director of the National Gallery of Armenia says the exhibition is of historical significance, as the painter always dreamed of having it in his historical motherland.
The National Gallery director presented the first ladies of Armenia and Poland with the “Teodor Axentowicz” medals issued by Armenia’s Central Bank.
