A resolution on fighting international terrorism was adopted by the UN Security Council. It calls for strengthening the regional and international cooperation. The Security Council urged the world organizations to collect data on terrorism suspects, forbid their movements, not violating the international law. Syria’s representative to the UN said Damascus supported the new resolution by the UN SC on fighting terrorism.
The speeches by the Western leaders at the UN General Assembly were also dedicated to anti-terrorism operations. The UK PM Cameron called the international alliance to develop a wider strategy in fighting ISIS. He advised working with the Arab states and expressed his readiness to involve the UK military force in it.
A meeting between Iran’s Rouhani and David Cameron took place, which the analysts describe as historical. It is the first meeting of the leaders of the two states after the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The reason for them coming closer today is the activity by the ISIS terrorist group.
In addition to fighting the threats by ISIS for the international community, the parties discussed also the prospect of restoration of bilateral relations after 35 years of suspension.
