The Department of the Oriental Studies of the Saint Petersburg State University, in association with the local Armenian Apostolic Church initiated an international scientific conference titled “Written Monuments of the Armenian Heritage.”
Experts from the Saint Petersburg, Yerevan State, Lingusitic Studies and Moscow State Universities and Matenadaran, Armenian Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, will participate in the conference, September 23 – 25.
The Dean of the Department of Oriental Studies, Saint Petersburg University, The Hermitage Museum Director Michael Piatrovskiy says in the age of globalization the question of national identity becomes sharper. That is why it is very important for the various civilizations and the cultures to be studied not only by their bearers, but also by all the world.
Bishop Sargis Chopirian, the religious leader of the Saint Petersburg’s St Catherine Armenian church, presented the welcoming word by the leader of the Armenian Diocese of Russia and New Nakhijevan to the participants of the conference.
