The classical definition is that the cyber-crime is the crime deliberately committed against the computer security.
The Police saw sharp increase of the number of the crime cases committed with the use of computer technologies recently. In 2013 and 2014, 103 such cases were there in Armenia. In 2012, it was 38, 70 in 2013, and 33 cybercrime cases were there for the first 8 months of 2014.
They included: use of computer technologies with misappropriation, computer sabotage, intrusion into database with no permission, etc.
In Armenia these kind of cybercrimes are mostly committed via social media.
The police and the prosecutor’s office developed a new bill supporting the cyber security. It also stipulates stricter punishment. The bill will soon be represented to the Parliament.
