The World Wrestling Championship was over in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent, yesterday. The muster was brilliantly shared by the Armenian team for the Greco-Roman wrestling. Two golden medals were managed by our guys. The World Champion among the 75 kg weight clas is Arsen Julfalakyan. The World Champion among the 98kg weight class is Arthur Alexanyan.
The last time Armenia could bring Gold home was in 2001, when for the first time in history of newly independent Armenia had a world champion in the Greco – Roman wrestling. By now for 13 years our sportsmen were unsuccessful to repeat the victory. And now Arsen Julfalakyan and Arthur Alexanyan made Armenia proud at this world muster.
Our team was back to homeland in the morning. The winners were given heroes’ reception at “Zvartnots” Airport. Arthur Alexanyan was also warmly greeted in his native Gumri. He was seated in a carriage, toured around the city. The young champion was given the blessing by bishop Michael Ajapahyan, head of the Gyumri Diocese.
