Every year 1.500-2000 baby girls are not born given the abortions based on baby sex.
So, annually Armenia loses 2.000 future moms for the nation. The data were provided by Gagik Hayrapetyan, Executive Representative of the Armeniam Office of the UN Population Fund.
Reason behind this was the “Family, Society and Church: Modern Challenges” conference, organized by Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, in Holy Echmiadzin.
The Director of the Office said that the reasons for the abortions vary: the young parents prefer baby boys, the ways of foreknowing the sex is available, and they usually prefer to have no other children after having baby boys.
