The History and the Armenian Philology Departments of the Yerevan State University have already had 95 years of their own history. Today in the morning the celebrations dedicated to the founding departments of the “mother university” started.
The events include an exhibition opening with the books by the departments’ faculties, with lectures and monographs, as well as photos and archive materials. The celebration was attended by the President of Armenia.
In his speech Serzh Sargsyan noted that it was a civilizational bravery by the Council of Ministers to decide on university founding on May 16, 1919, in times still in aftershocks after the Armenian Genocide and the war.
