The cows brought to Armenia from France are successfully reproducing. The cows brought from Europe to several villages of Tavush in the framework of the livestock development program have overcome the climate differences and successfully satisfy the villagers’ expectances. Already second generation of calves is growing in Armenia. Soon other communities of Tavush will be involved in the program. Besides Navur and Kirants villages involved last year, four more villages have been embraced. Small livestock farms are being constructed in the he frontier villages Barekamakan, Artzvaberd, Gandzasar, and Gosh. Also they will receive pedigree calves.
Due to financing support of Hauts-de-seine Council, France, “Himnatavush” development foundation established in Tavush works in several directions. At the central farm build in Lusadzor village according to European standards, thepedigree cows brought from Europe have already thrown twice, which has guaranteed the continuation of the program. Livestock cooperatives will also be founded on that base. The smart villagers have very optimistic plans. For example, in Artzvaberd, though the construction works have yet not been finished, they already have thought about the forage. The farms will start working in September.
